It has been said that competition at every level is 80% mental and 20% physical. Every thought that passes through our minds has an immediate effect on every cell in our body, including the muscles of our core, arms, and legs.

Many athletes tend to perform better in practice or private than they do in important games, events or matches. This is due to the increase in stress levels when so much is at risk. The added pressure can interrupt the athletes focus and cause them to worry about a negative outcome. "What if I miss this shot?" too often turns into a self-fulling prophecy and a missed shot.

The good news is that these negative self-fulling prophecies are easy to avoid.

The difficulty is that poor thinking habits are deep seated and subconscious. When a player is stressed there is a high likelihood the old negative habits will be triggered and resurface.

It is here that Sports Hypnosis offers a tremendous advantage over every other method used to modify thinking, behaviour and execution during crunch time.

Athletes are trained to focus their mind on positive thoughts. Negative thoughts are not suppressed, but removed from the subconscious, preventing them from ever resurfacing.
